SchoolPing messages: email copies, the spam folder and Tandlo

SchoolPing messages can arrive by email as well as in the app, and they can land in spam. Rescue them, forward them to Tandlo automatically, or share a letter or screenshot.

Check whether SchoolPing is already emailing you

SchoolPing sends school messages, letters and forms to its app, with a notification on your phone. Messages can also arrive by email, at the address your school holds for you. A parent testing Tandlo found this was already switched on for them, and every copy had gone to their spam folder.

So search your spam or junk folder for SchoolPing before changing anything. If nothing is there, look at the notification settings in the SchoolPing app, or ask the school office which email address they hold for you. Your school can also tell you how to read messages in a web browser; many link a SchoolPing login from their website.

Get them out of spam first

  1. Open a SchoolPing email in your spam or junk folder.
  2. Mark it as not spam. In Gmail, choose Report not spam. In Outlook, choose Not junk. In other mail apps, move it to your inbox.
  3. Add the sender to your contacts, so later messages are less likely to be filtered.

Do this before you set up forwarding. A forwarding rule can miss mail your provider has already put in spam.

Send SchoolPing emails to Tandlo automatically

  1. In Tandlo on iPhone, open Settings, then School emails, and copy your private forwarding address.
  2. Forward one SchoolPing email to that address. When it arrives, confirm the sender in Tandlo.
  3. Set up a rule in your email that forwards that sender to Tandlo. Our guides cover Gmail, iCloud Mail, Outlook and Yahoo Mail. In Gmail, also tick Never send it to Spam in the same filter.

If the email contains the message itself, forwarding is all you need: Tandlo reads it and suggests the dates for you to check. If it only says there is a new message, open SchoolPing and share the details instead.

Share a letter or message from SchoolPing on iPhone

  1. Open the message or letter in SchoolPing so the dates and details are visible.
  2. If the letter opens as a document with a Share button, tap Share and choose Tandlo.
  3. Otherwise, take a screenshot of the details you need. Open Ask Tandlo, choose Photo and select it, or open the picture in Photos, tap Share and choose Tandlo.
  4. Choose the child, then compare the suggested plan with the original before choosing Save plan.

We have not verified SchoolPing's own screens, so these steps use your iPhone's Share menu and screenshots. Tandlo receives the item you share, not access to your SchoolPing account.

Check before you save

Check the date, finish time, location and child. Look for an existing copy in your calendar before adding another. A saved plan does not fill in a form, give consent, pay or reply to the school; do those in SchoolPing or the school's own service.
